Update: Old-skewing, the premiere of CBS’ “Zoo” drew a sizable audience but fared modestly in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Per fast national data, Tuesday’s premiere posted a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating with 8.07 million viewers. It was its timeslot’s #2 network program in both regards.

Since CBS programming often skews in favor of older viewers, it is difficult to render performance assessments based on the overnight household ratings. A solid showing in the overnights will not necessarily translate into a solid showing in adults 18-49.
That adults 18-49 demographic data will not emerge until 11AM. As a result, the 5.6 overnight household rating is the only information presently available about the launch of CBS’ “Zoo.”
A respectable household figure, the number established the new CBS drama as the timeslot’s #2 network program. Only NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” fared better.
The number also deserves credit for topping the 5.0 posted by its lead-in, which was a re-run of “NCIS.”
A comparison to last year’s “Extant” launch is less favorable. Airing on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, the series premiere of “Extant” posted a 6.7 overnight household rating. That number translated into a 1.6 with 9.58 million viewers.
