A male character has finally been confirmed for Taylor Swift’s forthcoming “Bad Blood” music video.
After introducing eight female characters from Thursday to Sunday, Swift officially confirmed Kendrick Lamar for the video in a Monday morning Tweet.
The rapper will play a character known as “Welvin Da Great.”
Following Republic’s initial (but since deleted) announcement that the official “Bad Blood” single will be a remixed version of the song, many speculated Lamar, with whom Swift has developed a relationship of mutual admiration, would appear as a featured artist on the track. Swift’s announcement, however, only confirms him as an actor for the video – it neither establishes the existence of a remix nor any sort of musical role for Lamar.
Other “Bad Blood” characters include Taylor Swift’s Catastrophe, Lily Aldridge’s Frostbyte, Zendaya’s Cut-Throat, Hayley Williams’ The Crimson Curse, Gigi Hadid’s Slay Z, Ellie Goulding’s Destructa X, Hailee Steinfeld’s The Trinity and Lena Dunham’s Lucky Fiori.
The video premieres as part of the May 17 Billboard Music Awards.
