Last week, Maroon 5’s “Sugar” dethroned Taylor Swift’s “Style” to become the #1 song at pop radio. It remains there on this week’s chart.
It, meanwhile, reaches #1 at an additional radio format this week. That achievement also involved leapfrogging Taylor Swift’s third “1989” single.
The reigning leader at pop, “Sugar” is now the #1 song at hot adult contemporary.
The song’s weekly pop victory comes via the ~18,315 spins it received during the April 5-11 tracking week. Despite falling narrowly from last week’s count, the weekly total was enough to keep Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” at bay.
That song earns #2 on this week’s chart courtesy its ~17,507 spins. Other top five pop songs include Taylor Swift’s #3 “Style” (~16,942), Natalie La Rose’s #4 “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” (~13,640) and Mark Ronson’s #5 “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” (~13,054).
“Sugar” tops hot adult contemporary on the strength of its ~7,305 weekly spins. Taylor Swift’s “Style,” which led last week’s chart, slips to #2 with ~7,187.
Other top five Hot AC songs include Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” (~6,602), Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” (~6,550) and Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” (~6,494).
