Its pop radio reign is over, but Taylor Swift’s third “1989” single remains very much in style at hot adult contemporary.
While it faces a looming threat in the form of Maroon 5’s “Sugar,” the same song that seizes this week’s pop radio throne, Taylor Swift’s “Style” holds on for a second consecutive week atop the Mediabase hot contemporary airplay chart.
Its latest #1 comes courtesy the 7,133 spins it received during the March 29-April 4 tracking period. The aforementioned “Sugar” received 7,087 weekly spins.
Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” (#3, 6,722), Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” (#4, 6,714) and Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” (#5, 6,232) form the remainder of the weekly top 5.
Now #2 at pop radio, “Style” reaches the top ten at a third radio format this week. Up three places, the song claims a new peak of #10 on the Mediabase adult contemporary airplay chart. Its position is attributable to the 1,023 spins it received during the most recent tracking week.
Notable about the song’s AC leap is the fact that it gives Swift a third active top ten hit at the format. Her “Blank Space” holds the #2 spot (2,566 spins), while lead “1989” single “Shake it Off” is positioned at #7 (1,362 spins).
“Blank” also appears inside the Top 10 — at #9 — on the Hot AC airplay chart.
