While it did not draw as well as the uniquely high-profile 2014 premiere of Disney’s “Girl Meets World,” the first episode of “KC Undercover” drew a solid audience Sunday — and built on its lead-in.
Facing heavy competition from CBS’ AFC Championship, the Zendaya vehicle attracted 3.51 million viewers for its series premiere episode.
The half-hour “KC Undercover” opener meanwhile scored a 0.7 rating in adults 18-49 and a 1.6 in females 12-34.
Notable about the performance is that it bested its “Austin & Ally” lead-in in all key metrics. That series began its fourth season with an audience of 3.08 million viewers. It scored a 0.5 in adults 18-49 and a 1.2 in women 12-34.
It also bested the key numbers delivered by the fall 2013 finale of Zendaya’s previous series “Shake it Up.” That show ended its run with a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and 3.36 million viewers on November 10, 2013.
“Girl Meets World” attracted 5.16 million viewers for its series premiere this past summer. The series’ viewership fell considerably over subsequent episodes, however, and registered at 2.71 million for the most recent broadcast.
— Disney followed Sunday’s “KC Undercover” with “Star vs. the Forces of Evil” (2.33 million viewers, 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, 0.9 F12-34 rating) and “Liv and Maddie” (2.57 million viewers, 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, 1.1 F12-34 rating).
