Signposted by the fact that Sunday’s post-AFC Championship edition of “Scorpion” delivered situationally unremarkable numbers (a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating and 12.29 million viewers), CBS’ freshman drama did not enjoy improved numbers for Monday’s regular airing.
The latest episode, which aired in the show’s usual Monday at 9PM timeslot, drew a 2.2 with 12.03 million viewers.
While the series tied for first place (with FOX’s “Gotham” and CBS’ own “2 Broke Girls”) in the demo and ranked as the night’s most-watched program, its showing trailed that of the previous original on January 5.
That episode drew a 2.4 rating with 12.32 million viewers.
Obviously, the fall does not change the fact that “Scorpion” had a solid night — or that it is already renewed for season two. It does, however, mean that the AFC Championship lead-in did not notably strengthen “Scorpion” and thus, in theory, could have been better used to bolster a different program.
