Its radio impact date might not technically be until February 10, but Taylor Swift’s official new single “Style” is facing no challenge finding suitors at pop radio.
Last week, “Style” scored adds from a list of fourteen monitored Mediabase stations that included powerhouses like San Francisco’s 99-7 NOW and Dallas’ 106.1 KISS. Support from those stations–plus those which made an even earlier call to spin “Style”–helped the song reach the top 40 on the official Mediabase and Billboard pop airplay charts.
This week was even more explosive for the follow-up to “Blank Space.” The track commanded adds from a whopping 47 monitored stations.
Pop’s fourth-most-added song this week, “Style” won support from stations like New York’s Z100, Los Angeles’ 102.7 KIIS and Los Angeles’ 97.1 AMP. A warm reception for any song, the support is particularly impressive for a song that was only this week revealed as an official single.
Strongly supported by key radio programmers, “Style” is already #37 on Mediabase’s rolling pop airplay chart and #45 on its rolling hot adult contemporary chart (where it received a healthy 7 adds this week). While it is too early to formally declare it will be the third straight pop and Hot AC #1 from Taylor Swift’s “1989,” it is clearly poised to become another smash hit for the singer-songwriter.
