Mark Ronson Overtakes Hozier; “Uptown Funk” Goes Top 5 at Pop

While Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” spent several days as one of pop radio’s five most-played songs, it will not claim the #5 position on Mediabase’s official weekly airplay chart.

That honor will instead go to Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars),” which overtook “Church” and grabbed the spot in time for Sunday’s published chart.

“Uptown Funk” commanded roughly 11,674 spins during the January 4-10 tracking week, while “Take Me to Church” earned approximately 11,595.

Both tracks made huge weekly gains. The ~2,034 week-over-week gain achieved by “Uptown Funk” was the pop radio format’s second-greatest. Up ~1,449 this week, “Church” was pop’s fifth-greatest-gainer.

Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” will once again rule the weekly pop airplay chart. Nick Jonas’ “Jealous,” Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One” claim the next three slots.
