The recipient of some major recent airplay gains, Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” is now one of pop’s five most-played songs.
According to Mediabase, “Love Me Harder” commanded 12,491 pop spins during the seven days between December 12 and 18. That count registers as the pop format’s fifth-largest.
Insofar as the song is rising rapidly and under no imminent fire from a song beneath the top five, “Love Me Harder” is poised to cement a top five position on Sunday’s official Mediabase airplay chart. It will thus extend Grande’s “My Everything”-era hot streak; previous singles “Problem,” “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” and “Bang Bang (bonus track with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj)” also reached the top five.
Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” will remain atop the pop radio chart this week. Currently #3 on the rolling chart, Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” is expected to reach the #2 position on the official one, while Maroon 5’s “Animals,” Calvin Harris’ “Blame (featuring John Newman)” and the aforementioned “Love Me Harder” will follow.
