Already on a high stemming from news that he was nominated for six Grammy Awards, Sam Smith now has more cause to celebrate. His “I’m Not the Only One” blasts through new checkpoints on the hot adult contemporary and pop airplay charts.
When Mediabase’s official airplay charts go to print Sunday evening, they will confirm that “Only One” is now a top five single at hot adult contemporary radio and a top ten track at pop.
The hot adult contemporary jump, which takes Smith’s tune to #4, comes as the result of approximately 4,884 spins during the November 30-December 6 tracking period. The song now trails only Maroon 5’s #1 “Animals” (~6,269 spins), Tove Lo’s #2 “Habits (Stay High)” (~5,486) and Taylor Swift’s #3 “Blank Space” (~5,136). The lattermost song also ascends into the Top 5 this week–it was number seven on last week’s chart.
“I’m Not the Only One” meanwhile jumps to #9 at pop radio this week courtesy 8,826 weekly spins. It is the only new addition to the top ten.
