The follow-up to “Don’t,” the biggest Hot 100 hit of Ed Sheeran’s career, is thus far receiving a very warm reception at hot adult contemporary radio.
Already a top 40 hit on the format’s airplay chart, Sheeran’s new “Thinking Out Loud” ties for most-added this week.
According to Mediabase, “Thinking Out Loud” commanded adds from 19 monitored stations this week. Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” which independently dominated last week’s add board courtesy its 36 pickups, also won support from 19 new stations this past week.
Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars),” which exploded at pop last week, enjoys a great showing at Hot AC this week. The tune ranks as third-most-added on the strength of its 15 weekly pickups.
Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” follows with 12 more adds, while Meghan Trainor’s “Lips are Movin” grabs the fifth-most-added position. It was picked up by 11 new Hot AC stations this week.
Other songs in the mix include Imagine Dragons’ “I Bet My Life” (6th-most-added, 9 adds), Sheppard’s “Geronimo” (7th, 7 adds), Ingrid Michaelson’s “Afterlife” (8th, 6 adds), Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder” (9th, 5 adds), Christina Perri’s “The Words” (9th, 5 adds), George Ezra’s “Budapest” (9th, 5 adds), Gwen Stefani’s “Baby Don’t Lie” (9th, 5 adds), Mat Kearney’s “Heartbeat” (9th, 5 adds), Matt Nathanson’s “Headphones (featuring LOLO)” (9th, 5 adds), Mr Probz’ “Waves” (9th, 5 adds) and Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” (9th, 5 adds).
