Two contestants who made early marks on the iTunes all-genre sales chart–and thus seemed to represent potential frontrunners–failed to advance to the Top 12 portion of this season’s “The Voice.”
Taylor Phelan and James David Carter, those contestants, scored on iTunes with their respective Blind Audition renditions of “Sweater Weather” and “Nobody Knows.” While they definitely found buyers for “Cool Kids” and “Two of a Kind, Workin’ On a Full House” this week, neither emerged as an absolute standout during the Live Playoffs, and both were sent packing during Wednesday’s results show.
In the case of Phelan, he stood by as fellow Team Adam contestants Damien, Matt McAndrew and Chris Jamison advanced to the next round. James David Carter watched Reagan James, Craig Wayne Boyd and Jessie Pitts score placement in the Top 12.
Set to perform next week, the top twelve season seven contestants are as follows:
Team Blake: Reagan James (audience pick), Craig Wayne Boyd (audience pick), Jessie Pitts (Blake Shelton pick)
Team Adam: Damien (audience pick), Matt McAndrew (audience pick), Chris Jamison (Adam Levine pick)
Team Gwen: Taylor John Williams (audience pick), Anita Antoinette (audience pick), Ryan Sill (Gwen Stefani pick)
Team Pharrell: Luke Wade (audience pick), DaNica Shirey (audience pick), Sugar Joans (Pharrell pick)
