“SNL” Prescribes “Swiftamine” as Taylor Swift’s “1989” Sales Explode

As evidenced by the fact that her album is pacing to sell more than 1.3 million copies–and possibly break Britney Spears’ sales record–Taylor Swift represents an addiction for many Americans.

According to a sketch that aired during this weekend’s edition of “Saturday Night Live,” that addiction is not always a desirable one. For some, it serves as a source of vertigo, thus creating a dire need for treatment.

That treatment, the sketch argues, is “Swiftamine.” The drug will help the rational brain win its battle with Swift-obsessed ears.

Proud New Yorker–and previous “SNL” host and visitor–Swift did not make a cameo on this week’s episode, but the “Swiftamine” sketch (embedded below) gave the iconic variety show an opportunity to riff on her successful new album “1989.”
