The pre-chorus in The Pretty Reckless’ “Messed Up World” definitely does not refer to the song’s position on the active rock airplay chart. A multi-week number one in its own right, the follow-up to multi-week number one “Heaven Knows” is not coming down from the number one position.
According to Mediabase, “Messed Up World” leverages a weekly spin count of 1,716 to earn a third consecutive week atop the active rock airplay chart.
Once again a convincing leader, the play count for “Messed Up World” tops that of Slash’s runner-up “World on Fire” by an impressive 220 spins. Nickelback’s “Edge of a Revolution,” which was the greatest airplay gainer during the September 21-27 tracking period, follows at #3 with 1,487 spins.
You Me at Six’s “Room to Breathe” and Linkin Park’s “Until it’s Gone” claim the #4 and #5 positions with respective spin counts of 1,413 and 1,148.
Insofar as “Messed Up World” also dominated the audience race–its impression count of 4.78 million easily tops the 3.90 million earned by “Edge of a Revolution” and 3.78 million earned by “World on Fire”–the song is also likely to repeat at #1 on Billboard’s audience-driven Mainstream Rock Songs chart.
If it does, it will score its third consecutive week at number one–and fourth overall–on the corresponding Billboard chart.
