Ratings: NBC’s “Chicago Fire” Just Misses Viewership High (Updated)

Update: Burdened with a downward adjustment in the final ratings report, viewership for NBC’s third season “Chicago Fire” was not, in fact, the show’s best to date.

Measured at 9.14 million, the nightly viewership mark ranks second behind the 9.32 million drawn by the December 10, 2013 episode.

Tuesday’s “Chicago Fire,” meanwhile, drew a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating.

Earlier in the night, “The Voice” drew a 4.1 adults 18-49 rating with 13.18 million viewers from 8-10PM.  It was the first Tuesday premiere to outdraw the adjacent Monday premiere episode.

Promoted successfully and positioned effectively, NBC’s “Chicago Fire” opened its third season on a very positive note.

Per Nielsen’s Fast National data, Tuesday’s season premiere drew a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating with 9.4 million viewers.

The adults 18-49 rating ties the series’ previous high, while the viewership average represents a new peak for the show.

The 2.7 drawn by “Fire” convincingly bested the 1.8 posted by CBS’ timeslot competitor “Person of Interest.” NBC says that was “Fire”‘s widest margin of victory on record.

Earlier in the night, NBC aired a two-hour “The Voice.” Up slightly from Monday’s premiere, Tuesday’s episode drew a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating.
