Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” to Spend a Third Week at #1

Make no mistake, Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” will soon reach #1 on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart.

It will not get there in time for Sunday’s official weekly update.

Charli XCX’s smash “Boom Clap” will therefore hold the #1 position for a third consecutive week.

The recipient of 16,630 spins between September 5 and September 11, the song maintains a lead insurmountable for even the relentlessly rising “Bass.” Meghan Trainor’s breakthrough track accumulated a total of 15,136 within that same seven day window.

Adding more than 300 spins to its weekly total each day, “All About That Bass,” pop’s number two song, is rising impressively. It is also doing so more rapidly than any other song at pop radio.

But with only two days left in the tracking period, that explosive gain will prove insufficient for closing the gap.

While Charli XCX’s “Boom Clap” might be losing steam (its spin count is up for the week but endured a decline on September 11), its potential decline over the next two days will similarly not be enough to aid in an “All About That Bass” takeover.
