Hot 100: “All About That Bass” Reaches #1, Swift Now #2

Wednesday morning, Billboard revealed that Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” bested Taylor Swift’s reigning champ “Shake it Off” for number one on this week’s Digital Songs chart.

It is now confirming that “Bass” did the same on its Hot 100.

Bolstered by a high-profile “Classroom Instruments” performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Trainor’s “All About That Bass” advances to the number one spot on the all-encompassing chart.

Up one place on the overall Hot 100, “Bass” also enjoys gains on three of the four subcharts. It rises one place (to #1) on Digital Songs, one place on On-Demand Songs (to #1) and three places on Radio Songs (to #6). Its #2 position on Streaming Songs matches last week’s mark.

Swift’s “Shake,” which reigned at #1 for two weeks, slips to #2 on the Hot 100.

Like last week, Minaj is common to the next two songs. She appears at #3 with her own “Anaconda” and at #4 courtesy “Bang Bang.” Jessie J and Ariana Grande are also credited as lead performers on the “Bang Bang” collaboration.

Iggy Azalea’s “Black Widow (featuring Rita Ora)” claims the final Top 5 position.

Other songs in the top ten: Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” (#6), MAGIC!’s “Rude” (#7), Ariana Grande’s “Break Free (featuring Zedd)” (#8), Maroon 5’s “V” (#9) and Sia’s “Chandelier” (#10).
