With Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” already in rotation at every pop station on Mediabase’s panel, an opportunity emerged for a new song to reign as the format’s most-added.
Jason DeRulo’s “Trumpets” seized that opportunity.
Pop’s third-most-added song in each of the past two weeks, “Trumpets” cruised to the top of this week’s Mediabase Add Board. It received support from an additional 22 monitored stations.
The additional support should help “Trumpets,” which is already one of the format’s top 40 songs (and one of its ten greatest airplay gainers), continue its furious climb up the airplay chart.
Currently #29 on Mediabase’s rolling pop airplay chart, Pitbull’s “Fireball (featuring John Ryan)” ranked as the week’s second-most-added. It launched at 21 new monitored stations.
Mr Probz’ “Waves,” which is finally gaining steam at radio (and up to #35 for airplay), followed with 18 monitored adds. Katy Perry’s top 20 hit “This is How We Do” was fourth-most-added with 16 monitored pickups.
American Authors’ new “Believer” and Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” then split fifth-most-added honors on the strength of new support from 14 monitored stations.
Jeremih’s crossover hit “Don’t Tell ‘Em (featuring YG)” scored 13 new monitored adds this week. Alesso’s “Heroes (featuring Tove Lo),” which does not formally impact pop until next week, launched at 12 monitored stations. Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” mirrored that performance to tie for eighth-most-added.
David Guetta’s “Lovers on the Sun (featuring Sam Martin),” Ella Henderson’s “Ghost,” Jacob Latimore’s “Heartbreak Heard Around the World” and Mary Lambert’s “Secrets” all tied for tenth-most-added with 11 new monitored pickups.
