Sometimes all it takes is some visual stimulation.
Following in the footsteps of Ariana Grande’s “Break Free,” which flew back up the sales chart after the launch of its music video, Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” is rallying on iTunes.
After slipping out of the Top 25 last week, the track began roaring back Tuesday. Fueled by interest in the racy new video, which garnered more than 16 million viewers in its first 24 hours of release, “Anaconda” is up to #5 on iTunes’ all-genre sales chart.
Whether it can go higher on the chart, which currently has its top four positions assigned to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off,” Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” Nicki’s own “Bang Bang” collaboration with Ariana Grande and Jessie J and Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be (featuring Jess Glynne),” remains to be seen. But the jump to #5 proves “Anaconda” is certainly back in the mix.
The combination of rising sales, growing airplay and explosive streaming action positions “Anaconda” for a big gain on next week’s Billboard Hot 100.
