Blake Shelton - CMA

Its form radio impact date does not arrive until next Monday, but Blake Shelton’s “Neon Light” is already making a splash at radio.

Programmers, who received the song in the early morning hours on Monday, August 18, wasted no time spinning the song. According to Mediabase, “Neon Light” earned 984 opening day spins to land at #42 on the rolling edition of its country airplay chart.

That chart measures airplay for the seven day period between August 12 and 18, which means Shelton’s new tune received more airplay than all but 41 songs did over the entire last week.

More impressive than its play count was its audience total, which clocks in at a healthy 8.29 million impressions. That was country radio’s 31st-largest over the past seven days.

“Neon Light” is the first single from Shelton’s upcoming release “Bringing Back the Sunshine.”
