“True Detective” Scores Key Emmy Nominations

It might be a notoriously stacked category, but there was still room for both Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the Emmy race for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Both “True Detective” stars were confirmed as nominees for the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards. They will join last year’s winner Jeff Daniels (“The Newsroom”), previous winner Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) and previous nominees Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) and Kevin Space (“House of Cards”) in the quest for the trophy.

“True Detective” is also in the hunt for Outstanding Drama Series. It will square off with “Breaking Bad,” “Game of Thrones,” “Downton Abbey,” “House of Cards” and “Mad Men.”
