Upon learning that Naya Rivera was not scheduled to appear in the “Glee” season finale, it was easy to suggest she was cut from the show. After all, there had already been reports of rifts between Rivera, “Glee” star Lea Michele and the “Glee” production team.
And if she ever did come back to the show, one could always backtrack and claim Rivera and Glee settled their differences.
Yes, the story that Naya Rivera was fired was an easy thing for hits-starved publications to report.
It was also the wrong thing for them to report.
Already dismissed by Rivera’s team, the claim has now been officially debunked by 20th Century Fox Television.
“There is no truth to the rumor Naya has been fired from the show. She remains under contract to Glee,” said the “Glee” studio in a statement.
According to sources cited by multiple outlets, including THR, corresponding claims that Rivera, who plays Santana Lopez, was banned from set or the recipient of behavioral warnings are also untrue. Her trailer was empty–and she was not filming “Glee” this week–because she is already done for the season.
Neither FOX the network nor the studio has confirmed the cast list for season six, but nothing this spring will thwart a potential involvement from Rivera.
