One poked fun at a recent media scandal involving his Instagram conversation with a teenage girl. One appeared in support of her friend and former tourmate Ed Sheeran. One brought her signature level of quirkiness.
All added star wattage to Seth Rogen’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue.
Reading from a diary of his week at “SNL,” the host and “Neighbors” star noted that he did not require assistance from any famous friends. Sure enough, James Franco, Zooey Deschanel and Taylor Swift all made self-referential cameos throughout the night’s opening monologue.
Franco appeared after Rogen cracked that he posed as a young girl to trick his fellow “Freaks & Geeks” alumnus on Instagram. He later showed up in the “Monster Pals” short.
Swift, who joked that she appears anytime a man shows emotion, also announced to the crowd that “Ed Sheeran is here.”
Promoting the upcoming release of “Neighbors,” in which he co-stars with Zac Efron, Rogen is currently hosting his third career edition of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
