Heaven might know that the members of The Pretty Reckless “belong way down below,” but their current single refuses to fall from the top.
“Heaven Knows,” the breakthrough cut off the Taylor Momsen-fronted band’s new album “Going to Hell,” spends a fifth week atop Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart.
According to Billboard, the reign ties that of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” for the longest for a song with female lead vocals in the chart’s 32 year history.
After enjoying a long stint as rock radio’s most-played song, “Heaven” recently ceded its Mediabase airplay throne to Chevelle’s “Take out the Gunman” (which is currently the number two song on the overall Mainstream Rock chart). But as long as TPR’s song retains its momentum and buzz, it stands a chance of battling for a record sixth week at number one.
And even if it does slip on next week’s chart, it, in tying a record set by the iconic “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” represents an irrefutable home run for a band once dismissed due to its lead singer’s past work on “Gossip Girl.”
