Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty,” Pharrell’s “Happy” Ascend into iTunes Top 10

It might have been the week’s highest-profile new release, but as of early Friday morning, Shakira & Rihanna’s “Can’t Remember to Forget You” was not even in the top ten on iTunes’ Overall Single Sales chart.

That illustrious group was not, however, without new members this week.

As of press time, Jason DeRulo’s “Talk Dirty (featuring 2 Chainz)” had climbed to number six on iTunes, while Pharrell’s Oscar-nominated “Happy” had advanced to seven.

Neither is newly available this week (Pharrell’s “Happy” dates back to the summer release of “Despicable Me 2”) but both are riding brand new waves of momentum.

In making their jumps into the middle of the top ten, the two songs leapfrogged a pair of other recent top ten newcomers. Those songs–Lorde’s “Team” and Bastille’s “Pompeii”–now sit at numbers eight and ten, respectively. Passenger’s “Let Her Go” is sandwiched in between at number nine.

Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J)” still claims the top spot. Pitbull’s “Timber (featuring Ke$ha),” A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera’s “Say Something,” Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” and OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” follow.
