In urging America to vote his act into the finals of this year’s “The X Factor,” judge Simon Cowell cautioned that next week’s episode would not be the same without Restless Road.
It evidently will not be the same. America voted, and it is the end of (the) Restless Road.
Initially pegged as the favorite to win, the country trio struggled to improve at the same rate as rival acts. And over the past few weeks, it had become clear that fellow act Alex & Sierra was the more attractive option in the “Group” category.
The trio performed “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Wanted” during Wednesday’s semifinal performance show.
Restless Road’s elimination assures that judges Paulina Rubio, Kelly Rowland and Simon Cowell will all have an act in the finale (Demi Lovato’s contestants were knocked out last week). Rubio will be represented by Carlito Olivero, while Rowland and Cowell will place their faith in Jeff Gutt and Alex & Sierra, respectively.
FOX airs the two night finale next week.
