Despite receiving decent reviews and having the built-in marketing benefit of featuring two “Pitch Perfect” cast members, TBS’ new original comedy “Ground Floor” disappointing in its Thursday debut.
The new office-themed drama opened with a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating and 1.64 million viewers for its 10PM episode. As disappointing as that performance was, it had nothing on the 0.6 and 1.21 million turned in by “Ground Floor” in its second episode at 10:35PM.
A drop like that certainly does not reflect well on the audience’s reaction, but it, interestingly, is not uncommon for a TBS series.
While the show launched to far stronger overall ratings, TBS original comedy “Men at Work” started with a similar pattern. After opening to a strong 1.3 rating with 2.65 million viewers at 10PM, its 10:31PM airing could only muster a 1.1 with 2.28 million.
“Sullivan and Son,” meanwhile, opened to a 1.0 with 2.50 million viewers at 10PM and then slipped to 0.8 with 2.03 million viewers.
Notable, still, is that both Thursday launches delivered significantly stronger numbers than “Ground Floor” did.
