WWE Reveals WrestleMania 29 Buyrate, Confirms Extreme Rules Decline

Consistent with revised estimates that came out several weeks ago, WWE revealed Thursday that the WrestleMania 29 buyrate notably trailed that of its predecessor.

WWE’s quarterly earnings statement lists the official WrestleMania 29 buyrate at 1.039 million, which marks a decline from the 1.217 million figure for WrestleMania 28.

Both shows were headlined by The Rock vs. John Cena. Triple H vs. Undertaker and CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho supported the 2012 show in Miami, while the 2013 edition, which took place in New York, also offered Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar and CM Punk vs. The Undertaker.

Issued Thursday, WWE’s earnings statement also reveals declines for its other events in the second quarter. The 2013 edition of Extreme Rules missed last year’s 263,000 buy mark with only 231,000 buys, while Payback fell 8,000 short of last year’s comparable No Way Out with 186,000.

WWE did not offer a quarterly substitute for Over the Limit, which took place in May from 2010-2012.
