Her performance at the CMT Awards was too brief to put sales over the top, but the combination of her performance on Tuesday’s “The Voice,” promotional hype and lingering fan support has sent Cassadee Pope’s new single towards the top of the charts.
“Wasting All These Tears,” a pop-country single from the season three “Voice” winner and former Hey Monday frontwoman, reached as high as #3 on the iTunes Sales Chart and currently sits at number seven on that overall charts.
Among country singles, it leads Darius Rucker’s “Wagon Wheel” and her “Voice” coach Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” as the top-selling track in the nation.
Hyping the single’s June 10 release to radio, label Big Machine boasted that the song secured more than 75,000 downloads in its first 48 hours of release. NBC, clearly confident that “The Voice” might have found its first commercially-successful winner, trumpeted Pope’s return to the top of the charts in a release Thursday.
