The Rock’s “Hero” Premieres to Underwhelming Ratings on TNT

One can make a case that he is 2013’s biggest movie star, but as the host of a reality series, he is evidently not a draw.

The Rock’s “The Hero” opened to disappointing numbers Thursday, achieving 855,000 adults 18-49 (which should translate to a 0.7 rating) and more than 1.5 million total viewers for its initial broadcast. With an encore included, the total audience perks up to 2.1 million.

In its spin-heavy press release, TNT noted that “Hero” still showed marked timeslot improvement in key demos. It was one of the top 10 unscripted launches in 2013 and posted TNT’s lowest median age (39) ever for a series launch.
