“Bates Motel” Ratings Rise for Pivotal Episode

“Bates Motel” changed the game with its “The Truth” episode Monday, and viewers followed.

A&E’s series, which has already been renewed for a second season, improved to a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 2.93 million viewers. Last week’s show posted a 1.1 with 2.66 million.

In returning to the 1.3 mark, “Bates” matches the demo number attained by its first two episodes. Monday’s viewership count is slightly below the 3.04 million mark for the premiere but ahead of the 2.84 million garnered by episode two.

In the climax of Monday’s episode, Norma revealed that young Norman was actually responsible for killing his father. As has been indicated previously, Norman suffers from occasional blackouts, and we now know of at least three situations in which those blackouts came as he was violently defending his mother’s honor.
