Its ratings were not at the level many industry analysts expected, but as it was FX’s best-performing comedy by a country mile this summer, Charlie Sheen’s “Anger Management” earned its 90-episode renewal.
Structured similarly to Tyler Perry’s deals at TBS, “Anger Management” was picked up for an initial order of ten episodes. If it performed at a certain benchmark, it would receive a 90-episode back order to streamline the production process.
It apparently did–FX says that the total weekly viewership average for the show was 4.53 million with 2.5 million 18-49 watchers–and FX made the deal official Wednesday.
In addition to giving FX several more years of a Charlie Sheen-toplined series, the massive order also assures enough episodes will be available for an off-network syndication deal.
