Major UFC Name Out With Injury, Big Championship Fight Canceled

UFC President Dana White confirmed Wednesday that an injury will keep Georges St. Pierre on the sidelines for almost a year, resulting in another cancellation of a planned UFC Welterweight Championship match.

After withdrawing from his scheduled title defense against Carlos Condit this fall, St. Pierre had been slated for a title match with Nick Diaz at the February 4 UFC pay-per-view. His “blown ACL” will keep him out for ten months, meaning that match–and the title defense–cannot happen.

According to White, the show will now feature Carlos Condit vs. Nick Diaz in a fight for the interim Welterweight Championship. It is unclear if Josh Koscheck, who was scheduled to fight Condit on the show, will remain on the card.
