If anything was learned on this week’s “The X Factor” results show, it is that the show will not necessarily play out as predictably as “American Idol,” more or less, tends to do.
While the actual eliminated act was indeed one of the weaker ones, the results themselves were quite shocking, as one of the bottom two vote-getters had been viewed by judges and critics as one of the most formidable finalists.
That bottom two act, the Stereo Hogzz, delivered one of Wednesday’s top performances–it was so well-received that judge Simon Cowell, in fact, said they might be the best “band” in the world right now.
But voters were ultimately unimpressed, and they sent the Paula Abdul-mentored group into the bottom two. The other act? Paula’s inTENsity.
They, too, were well-received Wednesday, with the ten-some gaining praise for its youthful energy.
Voted into the bottom two by the audience, the two groups had to perform for the judges, who would have final say on the elimination. The Stereo Hogzz offered a low-key version of “Emotion,” while inTENsity delivered “My Life Would Suck Without You.” Neither, as would have to be expected in this sort of situation, seemed anywhere near as impressive as Wednesday night.
Simon Cowell voted to send the Stereo Hogzz home, but the other three judges voted out inTENsity, so the ten-piece child group leaves this week.
But this has to serve as a scare for the groups in the competition–if an act largely considered one of the top three or four on the night could end up in the bottom two, the groups could be facing an uphill battle this year.
Hi i live in Canada and the Xfactor has become a favorite in my household and many others i know. I work in a very busy hair salon and am in constant conversation with others regarding the talent on the show. We are wondering why if we can watch the show and help the network with the veiwing ratings why can we not vote for the contestants. I have tried many times and know i am not the only one. If i am wrong and any one knows how you may vote if you indeed live in Canada please let us know. Liz
