Girls seem to rule as far as comedies go this season.
While “2 Broke Girls” and “New Girl” have been strong in their first two weeks, CBS’ new, guy-centric “How to be a Gentleman” looks to have underwhelmed in its premiere Thursday.
Behind an episode of “The Big Bang Theory,” which scored a 9.3 overnight metered market (household) rating according to TV Media Insights, “Gentleman” only mustered a 5.5. Even if “How to Be a Gentleman” skews unexpectedly well in adults 18-49, it seems a near certainty that its demo retention out of “Big Bang” will be weak.
Its overnight rating was also well below that of “$#*! My Dad Says,” which opened to a 6.7 last year.
(Update: “Big Bang Theory” posted a very healthy 4.8 adults 18-49 rating with 14.5 million, while “How to be a Gentleman” flopped at a 2.7 and 9.0 million. That is a massive erosion from a half-hour sitcom lead-in)
Over on ABC, “Charlie’s Angels” fell steeply to a 4.6 in the overnights, forecasting an adults 18-49 demo below 2.0. Already, it looks like the “Angels” reboot can be written off as a flop.
(Update: “Angels” could only muster a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 7.2 million viewers. That should be the nail in the coffin on a second season, possibly even on a back-nine order)
I LOVED HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN!!!! this show is SO NEEDED IN TODAY’S Society. I thought it was hilarious and terribly relevant. We’ve forgotten what it’s like to be a Gentleman and American’s should be reminded to treat others with respect and Courtesy in today’s world of Charlie Sheen and Sexually inappropriate politicians.
I loved Rhys Darby and Dave Foley and I think Dillon and the other lead have great chemistry.
I can’t wait to see what they do next thurs night!!!
I have read a few good stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how so much effort you set to create this sort of fantastic informative web site.
