UFC 135 Opens With Big Knockouts, Tony Ferguson Debut; Prelims Results

The post-finale debut of “Ultimate Fighter” winner Tony Ferguson highlighted UFC 135’s undercard, which got the crowd warmed up as the hours near on Jon Jones vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

As with most UFC preliminary lineups, there were some exciting knockouts (case-in-point, the James Te Huna vs. Ricardo Romero fight) and some absolute snooze-fests (Tim Boetsch vs. Nick Ring).

Ultimately, though, with a show like UFC 135, which features Jones vs. Jackson, Matt Hughes vs. Josh Koscheck, Travis Browne vs. Rob Broughton, Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi and Ben Rothwell vs. Mark Hunt, you can only expect so much on the undercard.

UFC 135 Prelim Results follow:
James Te Huna b. Ricardo Romero via KO (punches) at :47 of Round One
Takeya Mizugaki b. Cole Escovedo via TKO (punches) at 4:30 of Round Two
Junior Assuncao b. Eddie Yagin via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-27)
Tim Boetsch b. Nick Ring via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Tony Ferguson b. Aaron Riley via corner stoppage (broken jaw) at 5:00 of Round One
