More WWE Backstage Heat Over Trish Stratus, Snooki, Frustration Over Lawler vs. Cole

As surprising as reports that John Morrison and Melina resented Trish Stratus over her spot on the WrestleMania card might have been, sources say they were not the only ones who felt the regular WWE Divas got a raw deal at last week’s pay-per-view.

Given the fact that Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Trish Stratus were babyfaces and that Kelly Kelly–not Melina or any other unbooked Diva–was originally scheduled to be on the ‘Mania card in the six-person tag, reports that Melina felt Trish “took her spot” seemed illogical. Yet all indications are that Melina and her beau Morrison did indeed feel that way–and, according to F4WOnline.com, they were not alone.

Several Divas pointed to the “stunt” casting in that match, featuring “Jersey Shore” star Snooki and inactive wrestler Trish Stratus, as a strategy that resulted in women who have worked hard all year not making the show. The F4W story noted, however, the oddness of the idea that the two women, rather than the WWE officials who booked the match, were the ones receiving heat for the situation.

There had also, at one point, been talk of featuring the rest of the Divas in a group match on the show; that plan got nixed due to the preexisting depth of the card. That, again, is a scenario that should be blamed on the “powers that be” who made the booking decisions rather than the women who specifically participated in the six-person tag.

The feeling was that Cole’s offensive period went on far too long, hurting both the quality of the match and the intensity of the heat (the crowd clearly approached that match expecting to see Lawler dominate Cole for 99% of the duration).
