As if there were any doubt, MTV’s record-breaking reality series “Jersey Shore” will be back for a fourth season.
The network announced the order Tuesday, confirming that the buzzworthy cast will relocate to Italy for the new season. The European production will begin in the spring of 2011.
“While the stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience it’s really the constantly evolving dynamic amongst the cast that keeps them coming back each season and Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us,” said Chris Linn, Executive Vice President of Programming and Head of Production for MTV. “The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can’t wait to see what erupts as a result.”
After giving some indications that it might have reached its peak in season two (at fairly enormous levels for a cable series), ratings exploded for the third season of “Jersey Shore.” Averaging over 8 million viewers per telecast, season three has set a new ratings record for MTV with each passing Thursday episode–the three regular timeslot editions of “Shore” have all built on the prior week’s airing.
