While a Deadline.com version of the statement from actor Eric Braeden on the recent incident with Neil Patrick Harris presented a more subtle mocking of the Emmy winner, THR.com features a far more aggressive commentary from the “The Young and the Restless” actor.
Speaking of NPH’s Twitter statement, in which he called Braeden a “d-bag” from backing out of a repeat “How I Met” appearance as Robin Scherbatsky’s father, Braeden said, “It was utterly inappropriate. He’s a little boy.”
He added that NPH is not a “worthy adversary” and that he doesn’t “even know who this fellow is.”
As for why he dropped out of the role, THR’s version of the story seems to fit Neil Patrick Harris’ claim that it was due to the part not being “substantial.” While Braeden admitted he is “exhausted” due to his “Y&R” filming schedule and recent surgery, he expressed a problem with the fact that the gig only called for two lines.
Said Braeden, “Two lines, I don’t do that for anyone.”
Neil Patrick Harris, who later expressed regret over the remark noting it was only due to his feeling of protection for the show, confirmed that Ray Wise has been tapped to replace Braeden in the role.
