Eminem’s “Recovery” Sales Tracking For Big Debut

“Recovery,” Eminem’s rapid-fire follow-up to last year’s “Relapse,” is on pace for a massive opening sales frame.

Based on two day sales extensions from Hits Daily Double, the album is currently tracking for first week sales of 590-615,000, which would put its opening right in the realm of the “Relapse” debut.

While “Relapse” benefitted from being Eminem’s first studio album in years, “Recovery” entered the market as a follow-up to an album that struck out with critics and failed to develop long-term hit singles. Considering those disadvantages, “Recovery”‘s ability to open to the tune of 600,000 is an absolute accomplishment.

If tracking holds, “Recovery” will bow with considerably more strength than Drake’s “Thank Me Later,” which sold 447,000 copies last week. It will also give Eminem the best debut sales week year-to-date by a margin of about 100,000.

  1. this is one of eminem’s best albums, and one of hip-hops best recent albums. i hope sales reflect how good this album is.

  2. honestly i really like relapse’s content like if he would redo the album same lyrics and everything but with no accent i would absolutely love it and i couldnt convince myself to like beautiful because i thought it might be his last album but with recovery being out i am loving beautiful just saying

  3. this Recovery album (4.25*) is really good. definitely better than Relapse(3.5*) but I actually thought Relapse was pretty good. ‘Stay Wide Awake’, ‘3am’, ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Beautiful’ are crucial tracks. Even ‘Medicine Ball’ is catchy. I can rock those joints for years. It was that annoying voice he was using that ruined it; and of course, some of the weird stuff he was saying. I wonder what made him decide to use that voice? Anyways, Recovery is Em getting back to basics. I wish he would read more blogs/articles about what ppl are saying about his music b/c the whole drug thing is exhausting. I still have MMLP(5*) and Em Show (4.5*) in heavy rotation. Don’t sleep on that Re-Up mixtape/album cuz that is a pure sleeper.
