Fresh off a big win over Efrain Escudero, undefeated lightweight Evan Dunham challenged the consistently-exciting Tyson Griffin in the final preliminary bout at UFC 115: Liddell vs. Franklin.
The headliner bout on the Spike TV preliminary airing, the Dunham-Griffin bout promised to be an intriguing and exciting affair, and the UFC was hoping it would be enough to score some late buys for the Chuck Liddell, Rich Franklin-headlined pay-per-view.
Did Dunham stay undefeated? Or, did Tyson Griffin make it three wins in a row with a big victory? Results follow:
Evan Dunham b. Tyson Griffin via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)
*Note: Though the right guy won, the judging was fairly off the mark here. The idea that Griffin won the fight on any card is absurd, and even giving one of the three rounds to Griffin is suspect. This was pretty clearly a 30-27 fight for Dunham.
Other UFC 115 preliminary results:
Mike Pyle b. Jesse Lennox via technical submission (triangle choke) at 4:44 of Round Three
Claude Patrick b. Ricardo Funch via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:48 of Round Two
James Wilks b. Peter Sobotta via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-28, 30-27)
Mario Miranda b. David Loiseau via TKO (strikes) at 4:07 of Round Two
Matt Wiman b. Mac Danzig via technical submission (guillotine choke) at 1:45 of Round One
