WWE estimates it will refund $235,000 of ticket revenue in conjunction with Donald Trump’s announcement that all attending tonight’s RAW will be credited in full for their ticket purchases.
The announcement, teased as Donald Trump’s plan to put the “green” back in Green Bay, came at a press conference at the Executive Air Terminal this afternoon. WWE had previously given storyline credit to RAW’s new “owner” Trump for tonight’s commercial free RAW, also sticking to the gimmick of Trump showing appreciation to WWE RAW’s fanbase.
Of note is the fact that WWE’s press release directly acknowledges the fictional nature of Trump’s RAW “purchase.” Noteworthy lines included, “In the fact or fiction world of WWE, it is a fact that Donald Trump held a press conference today” and a reference to Trump as the new “owner” (with quotations) of RAW. WWE and USA came under fire for not explicitly confirming Trump’s involvement as a storyline last week–notable media websites treated the supposed sale as legitimate.
