Persistence does not always imply fact. A rumor that WWE is using the Batista injury angle to cover up a Wellness Policy violation is categorically false, yet a number of wrestling media outlets continue to speculate on the matter. While no one but Batista can be certain that he has not used steroids recently (and it is not even a lock that WWE officials do not know of prohibited drug use), his biceps injury is indeed legitimate. His anticipated four-six month absence is absolutely explained by the time needed to recover from Tuesday’s surgery.
Interestingly, the editor of F4WOnline.com, the source from which all other wrestling media outlets are drawing the controversial rumor, acknowledged the validity of the injury and surgery on his radio show Wednesday evening.
— The week’s other major rumor, that Rey Mysterio has given notice to WWE management, is untrue. Matters, for presently unknown reasons, are apparently not rosy between Mysterio and WWE, but he remains with the company and is expected to continue his feud with Chris Jericho.
