UFC held its “UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida” event in Las Vegas on May 23. The event, co-headlined by a Light Heavyweight Championship defense from Rashad Evans against Lyoto Machida and a grudge match between Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, kicked off UFC’s summer of 2009–its fourth big summer since escalating to the top of the mainstream food chain in the wake of the big UFC 57 event that defined the sport’s mainstream presence.
