Ric Flair’s surprise return at WWE Judgment Day will certainly not be a one-and-out deal for the WWE Hall of Famer. Sources say the legendary wrestler has been tapped for a short-term program on WWE television.
If the story about “The Nature Boy”‘s future with WWE–reported by F4WOnline.com–is true, Flair will be appearing on RAW to begin setting up an angle for the next pay-per-view. Flair publicly expressed his desire to return to active wrestling in a recent interview with syndicated writer Alex Marvez, but it is unclear if his current WWE program will end with a bout in the ring. There has been a mixed reaction within WWE about the prospect of Flair coming out of retirement, even if for just one match.
Vince McMahon will make the final call, but many do see a Flair return match as inevitable.
In any event, the current angle is being designed as a short-term holdover while Triple H remains on hiatus. Flair has drawn solid ratings numbers for WWE in the past, and the company believes his star power can provide a nice boost as WWE enters its summer months.
