Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” Likely Heading Top 10 At Pop Radio

For the first time in years, we could have a country hit in the Top 10 at pop radio.

Sam Hunt’s “Body Like A Back Road” has a strong chance of reaching the Top 10 on this week’s Mediabase pop radio airplay chart.

“Body” received 6,226 spins during the first five days of the August 13-19 tracking week, which bests the same-time-last-week mark by 1.6%.

While the song is only #11 on the building chart, it has a clear path to the Top 10.

Halsey’s “Now Or Never,” which currently holds the #10 spot, only leads “Body Like A Back Road” by 7 spins. And it is in a state of rapid deceleration; its spin count is down 24.2% from last week’s mark.

With “Body Like A Back Road” gaining (albeit slightly) and “Now Or Never” fading, it seems reasonably safe to conclude that “Body Like A Back Road” will reach the Top 10.

“Body Like A Back Road” will be the first country crossover since Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” to reach pop radio’s Top 10.

“Cruise,” moreover, relied on a pop-friendly remix (with involvement from Nelly) to make waves at mainstream radio.
