Confirmation of and ensuing animosity over Taylor Swift’s involvement in Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For (featuring Rihanna)” has propelled the song up the US iTunes single sales chart.

The song, which was below #5 when the news broke, is #2 on the listing as of 6:50PM ET. Only Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” is selling at a faster rate.

Early Wednesday, TMZ reported that there was truth to a longstanding rumor: Taylor Swift co-wrote Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For (featuring Rihanna)” under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg.

A representative for Swift confirmed the story shortly thereafter, and Harris quickly followed suit, noting that Swift also “sings on a little bit of it.”

Harris’ Tweet of confirmation also included a compliment regarding his ex-girlfriend’s legal prowess.

His subsequent Tweets were of a more contentious variety. Harris began by articulating his own pivotal involvement in the creation of “This Is What You Came For.” He stressed that Swift herself wanted her contribution to be kept secret.

“Hence the pseudonym,” wrote Harris.

The famed producer then turned up the volume, criticizing Swift’s team for attempting to make him look bad (and bury him “like Katy [Perry]”) when she is supposedly happy in her new relationship [with Tom Hiddleston].

The rant prompted social media users to decide between Team Calvin and Team Taylor.

iTunes buyers, however, appear to be Team “This Is What You Came For.”
