Cage The Elephant’s “Mess Around” Repeats as Alternative Radio’s #1 Song

Cage The Elephant’s “Mess Around,” which last week seized the alternative radio crown from twenty one pilots’ “Stressed Out,” this week holds off Coldplay’s rising “Adventure Of A Lifetime.” It spends a second week at #1.

“Mess Around” received ~2,982 plays during the January 31-February 6 tracking week. Though down 42 from the previous week’s count, it keeps the Cage The Elephant tune ahead of “Adventure,” which earned ~2,930 weekly plays (+172).

In rising to #2, “Adventure Of A Lifetime” trades places with twenty one pilots’ “Stressed Out.” The former multi-week #1 falls to #3 on the strength of its ~2,562 weekly spins (-235).

No tears will be shed over that fall. The song already spent an impressive 12 weeks at #1; follow-up single “Ride,” moreover, is rapidly climbing the chart. It is already up to #15.

Vance Joy’s “Fire And The Flood” holds at #4 with ~2,308 weekly plays (-21), while Foals’ “Mountain At My Gates” advances one place to #5 on this week’s chart. It earned ~2,256 spins during the official tracking week (+126).
