Ratings: “Scandal” Audience Back Over 10 Million, “HTGAWM” Rises

Update 2: For the first time since October 2, a “Scandal” episode attracted more than ten million viewers.

Thursday’s episode, which was the precursor to the fall finale, drew a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating with 10.05 million viewers.

Lead-out “How to Get Away with Murder” drew a 2.9 rating with 9.25 million viewers.  Lead-in “Grey’s Anatomy” scored a 2.4 with 8.36 million.

Update: Thursday’s “Scandal” drew an improved 3.1 adults 18-49 rating with 9.98 million viewers.

Leading out of that elevated “Scandal,” ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder” delivered an improved performance of its own. It scored a 2.9 with 9.22 million viewers.

“Grey’s Anatomy,” which opened ABC’s evening, posted a 2.4 with 8.29 million.

ABC’s “Scandal” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” both one week removed from their fall finales, enjoyed improvement in the overnight metered market ratings.

Thursday’s installments drew respective overnight household ratings of 7.8 and 7.0.

For “Scandal,” the mark was up 4% from last week’s overnight rating and the best since that drawn by the September 25 season premiere. “HTGAWM” also enjoyed a 4% boost this week.

While there is no guarantee the same increases will manifest in the adults 18-49 ratings (last week’s “Scandal,” for instance, declined in the demo despite rising in the overnight household column), there is every reason to believe the two shows are hot as they approach their fall finales.

Earlier in the night, ABC offered “Grey’s Anatomy.” Its 6.4 overnight household rating was up slightly from last week’s 6.3.
