Tove Lo’s “Habits” Erupts at Pop Radio; Bebe Rexha, Rixton Start Well

While no track–new or old–was going to upstage the power tandem of Katy Perry’s “This is How We Do” (61 total adds) and Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” (46 total adds) this week, several fared very well with radio programmers.

Unsurprising given its newfound support from iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” program, Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” was one of the week’s most impressive performers at pop.

According to Mediabase, the song ranked as the format’s third-most-added with 31 station pickups. New York’s powerhouse station Z100 was one of the stations to finally get behind the song, which is already #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #32 on Mediabase’s pop radio airplay chart.

Bebe Rexha’s newly-impacting “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” also made a mark this week. The song claimed fourth-most-added honors with 30 total station pickups.

With 26 adds, Meghan Trainor’s blockbuster “All About That Bass” once again found itself near the top of the heap. The song, which tied for fifth-most-added among all reporters, joined the aforementioned “Habits” in winning support from Z100.

Rixtons’ newly-impacting “Wait on Me” also scored 26 adds and thus shared the fifth-most-added slot with “Bass.”

Jeremih’s crossover effort “Don’t Tell ‘Em (featuring YG),” which is already up to #29 on the pop airplay chart, claimed seventh-most-added with 24 new pickups. 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Amnesia” (19 total adds, 8th-most-added), Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” (19 total adds, 8th-most-added), Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” (16 total adds, 10th-most-added) and R5’s new “Heart Made Up on You” (16 total adds, 10th-most-added) were also in the mix.

Since Mediabase only includes data from monitored reporters in its airplay chart, it is also worth looking at how songs specifically fared with those stations:

1) Katy Perry – This is How We Do – 56 monitored adds
2) Nicki Minaj – Anaconda – 42 monitored adds
3) Tove Lo – Habits (Stay High) – 31 monitored adds
4) Bebe Rexha – Can’t Stop Drinking About You – 30 monitored adds
5) Rixton – Wait on Me – 25 monitored adds
6) Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass – 23 monitored adds
7) Jeremih – Don’t Tell ‘Em featuring YG – 21 monitored adds
8) Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang – 16 monitored adds
9) 5 Seconds of Summer – Amnesia – 15 monitored adds
10) R5 – Heart Made Up on You – 14 monitored adds
